The 34th Early Childhood National Conference is being held in Adelaide on Wednesday 4 October to Saturday 7 October 2023.

A TRB team member will be in attendance for a short time each day to present a poster that will be on display for the duration of the conference. The poster will be celebrating the Board’s anniversary in 2023, marking 50 years since the Board first met.

In the half a century since this event, the teaching profession has grown, matured, and developed in complexity. South Australia was a leader in recognising not just teachers through a system of professional registration, but has been at the forefront of recognising early childhood teachers and their leadership in the wider profession. 

This poster presentation will highlight the importance of early childhood teachers in the development and support of the youngest of learners in the South Australian education sector, from the early development of the kindergarten system in the state, through to the current requirement of accredited early childhood degrees, the full registration of early childhood teachers, and the recognition of early childhood leadership in the sector. Synergies with State and National priories in education will be highlighted to illustrate how the essential inclusion of early childhood leadership has been part of the Teachers Registration Board’s proud 50 years.
