HALT Summit 2021

Picture1.jpg

TRB Project Officer and HALT Tania Crawford attended the 2021 national summit for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers in June.

HALT Summit 2021 was held in Brisbane. It was a little different from previous years, with some attendees joining in virtually. Teachers listened to some thought-provoking masterclasses, took part in workshops and participated in strategic feedback sessions.

A great feature of this year's event was the 'Sharespaces' where attendees had the opportunity to listen to what other HALTs are doing in their schools. There were about 20 South Australian teachers in attendance at the summit and we enjoyed the opportunity to connect and chat in the state breakout session.

Attending the HALT Summit - which has been held since 2016 in Adelaide, Sydney, Canberra and Darwin - is a highlight of the year for many Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers, but there are many other benefits to seeking HALT certification:

  • personal and professional growth
  • increasing student outcomes
  • having a positive impact on colleagues
  • opportunities to network with other teachers from around Australia.

All sectors in SA offer this pathway and as of 1 July 2021, your Teachers Registration Certificate and the official Register of Teachers will be annotated to note this achievement.

Check out the hashtags #HALTSummit2021 and #HALTNetwork on Twitter to have a closer look at what went on at this year's summit.

For further information about becoming a Highly Accomplished or Lead teacher, contact the person in your sector.
